Application Level Events Interface

The Reva TAP is designed to simplify deployment and improve performance for RFID operations at global facilities such as manufacturing plants, distribution centers, retail stores, entertainment venues, food processing operations, airports and healthcare environments where processed RFID data can be leveraged by multiple local and enterprise applications.

The Reva Management System components are used with Reva TAPs to deliver enterprise RFID management. This encompasses multi-site monitoring, alerting and management, single site configuration, monitoring and management, centralized reader firmware upgrade capabilities and a scripting interface for automating bulk administrative tasks.

  • Reader control and coordination
The TAP operates RFID readers in production settings as a coordinated and synchronized network. As the focal point for reader control, the TAP provides a layer of intelligence that facilitates deployment, coordinates read operations, and automates reader management, reducing service and labor costs and ensuring increased return on investment.

  • RF optimization
RFID deployments often necessitate the simultaneous operation of multiple readers from several vendors. The TAP uses sophisticated techniques and algorithms to control and coordinate how RFID readers use frequency, time, space, and transmit power. The ability to optimize RF utilization enables deployments of any scale to maximize tag read rates and generate accurate data.

  • Tag Data Processing
The TAP provides high-availability processing and storage of tag data and intelligently resolves the locations associated with tag observations. Locations are resolved based on a user-definable facility layout combined with calculations and observations of the RF coverage of antennas.

  • Tag data smoothing and filtering
The TAP manages the potentially redundant data generated by multiple readers detecting the same, or subsets of the same, tags in the same location. This enables a significant reduction in the amount of redundant data generated by the RFID network at a particular facility.

  • Advanced location resolution & cross read elimination
In addition to directly associating read points with locations, the TAP can determine tag location by comparing and correlating the responses of the tag to multiple readers. Sophisticated location algorithms correlate tag observations to the correct dock door, work station or other business locations in dense reader environments where cross reads are present. Thereby eliminating the cross read issue without the need for costly and impractical shielding in real world deployments.

  • Movement, Transitions & Tag Direction
TAPs allow users to configure transition portals using any supported reader models and antennas that will automatically track tag movement and determine direction. This is easy to implement and does not require special capabilities from the readers.

  • Multiple location perspectives
The Reva Management Console enables users to define multiple location models, known as perspectives, based upon the same physical facility. This provides users with a means of supporting multiple client applications that may have diverse tag data requirements.

  • Data service interfaces
The TAP presents data service interfaces to client applications which consume RFID data. Typical clients might include Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) platforms, business intelligence and data storage systems, as well as applications that perform specific functions like ERP, supply chain planning and inventory management.

  • Failover and service redundancy
A system of multiple TAP nodes automatically elects active and backup nodes for reader control and each enabled data and network service to deliver real-time 24x7 failover and redundancy.
