The Reva Multi-site Manager (RMM) is a network style appliance that provides enterprise-wide RFID management. It is typically deployed at a headquarters or corporate datacenter, but may be installed at any site connected to the corporate network. The RMM appliance provides web-based access for company administrators to monitor and manage the RFID operations at distributed sites which have Reva TAPs installed. TAPs control and coordinate all readers at a facility level, process the collected data for location accuracy and useability, and then present requested data to enterprise applications for consumption.
The RMM automatically communicates with TAPs to provide a consolidated, remote management and monitoring solution with an onboard database to record statistics and archive facility configurations. There are also integration capabilities for passing alerts and statistics to enterprise network management systems such as IBM Tivoli, HP OpenView, Micromuse NetCool, and others. TAPs support most leading reader models and auto-configure those readers for optimal operations. This delivers an enterprise picture of RFID infrastructure and data that is consistent to manage and easy to deploy when utilizing the RMM.

The RMM delivers the enterprise RFID monitoring and management capabilities companies need when they RFID enable production operations at more than one site. The Reva Multi-site Manager is the cost effective solution that allows a single administrator to actively manage 100’s of global RFID operations.

The Reva Management Console (RMC) is a software application with a Windows look-and-feel that enables users to manage Reva TAPs and the RFID systems built around them on a facility-wide basis. The Java based software is compatible with all TAP models and is used for configuring new sites, adjusting existing site configurations and monitoring operational sites in real time.
The Reva Management Console allows users to describe the facility graphically, place RFID readers, antennas and other devices on the facility map, calculate a site configuration, and deploy operating parameters to the TAPs in the network. Once a facility is up and running on a TAP, the Management Console can be used to remotely monitor the health of readers and other devices residing there. Also, tagged object activity and data collection status for the site may be viewed to give local operators and distributed administrators 24x7 confidence that their RFID operations are executing properly.

The Reva Scripting Tool (RST) is a console window which provides a scriptable interface for automating administrative tasks that effect TAPs and devices at deployed sites. The standard tasks which the RST allows administrators to automate include: verify TAP reachability, update admin passwords, scan network firewall for TAP sockets, update TAPs, re-start TAPs, re-boot TAPs, set site templates, deploy site configurations and backup site configurations.
The RST enables basic administration of enterprise RFID implementations via the scripting method that some IT organizations prefer to graphical applications such as the RMC. For example, some enterprises adhere to a corporate standard which forces them to change the administrative passwords on all network devices on a monthly or quarterly basis for security purposes. In this case the RST is used to schedule and automatically deploy password changes to all TAPs at all facilities in the enterprise. |
